When you first start delving into screamo, pageninetynine is probably one of the first bands you find out about. They're one of those Big Ones when it comes to the genres more aggressive, intense and fast side, along with bands like Orchid and Jeromes Dream. I also think they'd be a good band to show someone to try to sell them on the genre, since their punk sentiment is more obvious than it is with other bands. I haven't tried this yet tho, so maybe your punk friends will hate it just as much as they hate showering. Don't blame me ok!

The band formed in Sterling, Virginia in the year 1997, and they disbanded in 2003 but have had several reunion shows since 2011. Its had a lot of members during its lifespan, at most there were eight people up on stage!

releases

All of pg.99's releases are called 'documents', which there are 14 of. Below is a full list of all of them, because i wanted to have them all in order in one place. I also really love all the art on their album covers and in record sleeves.

Document #1

This was the bands first release, a four-track demo released in 1999 on cassette with 200 copies made. All four songs would later feature on Document #14, and My Application To Heaven(one of my favorites by pg.99) was re-recorded for Document #5.

Document #2

Their second release is this split EP from 1999 with Enemy Soil, a grindcore band also from Sterling, Virginia. Each band has two songs each, and like with Document #1 the songs by pageninetynine are on their singles album, Document #14. Sidenote, this is one of my favorite pg99 "album" covers(cant really say that since its neither an album nor is it just by pg99). I'm such a sucker for anatomical illustrations in cover art, they look so cool.

Document #3

Another split EP, also from 1999. This one is with Reactor No.7. Not much else to add, Mary Get Your Knife and The Longer Now were added to their singles album, but A Noise Piece, the first song on this record wasn't.

Document #4

Finally, we've reached the bands first non-split, non-demo release! Document #4 is a two-song single, with a re-recording of More Complicated Than a Sci-Fi Flick from their demo, as well as Diagram For A Suicide. Again, these songs are both on Document #14.

(I got most of these pictures from Discogs, and i really wish the person who uploaded it could have shown the other art thats being hidden by the vinyl -_-)

Document #5

This was the bands first full length album, released on April 26th 2000. This is probably my favorite pg.99 release, but I have a hard time deciding.
